Breathing Air Quality Testing

It is essential that air supply in the workplace is clean and uncontaminated – there is a clear risk to health if employees are breathing contaminated air.

It is essential that air supply in the workplace is clean and uncontaminated – there is a clear risk to health if employees are breathing contaminated air. In some work environments, such as spray booths or shot blast units, breathing air supplied by compressors can develop contaminants over time.  The quality of this air must meet the minimum requirements of BS EN 12021, which states that compressed air for breathing shall not contain any contaminants at a concentration that can cause toxic or harmful effects.

Our Breathing Air Quality Tests can measure for contaminants including:

  • Carbon Dioxide
  • Carbon Monoxide
  • Odour
  • Oil Mist
  • Oxygen
  • Water Vapour

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance document Respiratory Equipment at Work (HSG53) states that the frequency of Breathing Air Quality (BAQ) tests should be based on a risk assessment, but should take place at least every three months, and more often when the quality of air cannot be assured to comply with these levels.

Envirocare’s Occupational Hygiene experts can attend your site to carry out BAQ tests on a quarterly basis and issue a test report within five working days.
