About the role

Are you ready to take charge of occupational hygiene projects and make a positive impact on workplace health?

The Cura Terrae group have an opportunity for an experience Occupational Hygiene Consultant to join the business. In this role you will be at the forefront of undertaking, managing and executing all aspects of occupational hygiene surveys, including the supervision and well-being of yourself and others. Representing Envirocare, you’ll travel to client sites across the UK (and potentially abroad) to conduct assessments in line with HSE guidance and internationally recognised methods, adhering to Envirocare’s Quality Management System.

As an Occupational Hygiene Consultant at Envirocare, you will be at the forefront of undertaking and managing comprehensive surveys for a range of chemical, biological, and physical agents, ensuring the well-being of yourself and others.

Representing Envirocare, you will travel to client sites across the UK (and sometimes abroad), performing surveys aligned with HSE guidance and internationally recognised methods, following our Quality Management System (QMS). In this role, you will be an ambassador for our business, embodying professionalism and courtesy at all times. Embrace a “can-do” attitude, champion safety, and receive support from our Directors and Management Team, along with dedicated roles in Technical, Training, Sales, HSEQ, Business Administration, and Group Level support for IT, Finance, and HR.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Embrace and champion our Health & Safety policy and the Envirocare QMS.
  • Adhere to all client Health & Safety policies while on-site.
  • Prepare and authorise site-specific risk assessments.
  • Raise monthly hazard identification reports.
  • Champion safe behaviours at all times.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Undertake sampling and surveys according to prescribed procedures and standards.
  • Plan and prepare sampling strategies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with dedicated team support to ensure impeccable planning, preparation, and execution of surveys.
  • Maintain all equipment in good repair and calibration.
  • Prepare and ship samples to laboratories for analysis.
  • Write and submit excellent technical reports based on site findings in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Showcase attention to detail in authorising reports and assisting colleagues when needed.
  • Update procedures and templates as required to reflect best practices and regulatory changes.

Client Interaction:

  • Serve as a professional representative of Envirocare during all client interactions.
  • Engage and communicate effectively with clients, showcasing your expertise.
  • Ensure punctual arrival at client sites as per agreed schedules.
  • Undertake site review meetings and inductions, as required.
  • Contribute to upselling services by leaving a lasting impression on potential clients.

Project Management:

  • Be self-motivated with a proactive approach to managing your projects.
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage and execute all aspects of occupational hygiene surveys, including supervision and well-being of yourself and others.

Qualifications and Experience

Education and Certifications:

  • Ideally, an Affiliate or Licentiate member of the BOHS Faculty of Occupational Hygiene.
  • Hold BOHS modules and proficiency certificates (e.g., W501, W503, W505, W507, P601), or already hold your Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene or Chartered status.
  • Alternatively, willingness to join our training programme to work towards these qualifications with our support.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a STEM subject is advantageous.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in conducting occupational hygiene assessments and surveys.
  • Familiarity with HSE guidance and internationally recognised occupational hygiene methods.
  • Experience in report writing and peer review processes.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using occupational hygiene equipment and software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Positive “can-do” attitude and willingness to follow reasonable instructions from Directors and Management.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
