John Dykes retirement at Envirocare

Envirocare extends heartfelt gratitude to John Dykes for his dedication and unwavering commitment to excellence. We wish him a retirement filled with joy and fulfilment.

A Journey Through Environmental Excellence:

1965 – Doncaster Coalite: Commencing his career in the laboratory, John focused on coal and coalite oil and effluents. His role evolved to enhance combustion processes and minimise emissions. When an activated sludge plant was commissioned to treat discharges to water courses, his duties included the monitoring of plant and effluent.

1973 – Doncaster Sewage Treatment Works: A new treatment plant was commissioned, and John helped to ensure its smooth operation. His additional responsibilities included sampling, analysis, and the training of junior staff.

1974 – Yorkshire Water Authority: Expanding his roles, John played a crucial part in managing various treatment works around Doncaster. His duties encompassed trade effluent analysis and monitoring river qualities.

1980s – YWA Sheffield: Amid lab consolidation to Sheffield, John played a key role in securing UKAS accreditation. His duties extended to the evaluation and commissioning of new equipment and methods.

1990s – Post Water Privatisation: Responding to industry shifts, John played an important role in the move into atmospheric emissions monitoring. Under Dr. Clive Thompson, he established a monitoring program that expanded across the UK, Europe, and Ireland.

2014 – Working at Catalyst: Serving as a Calibration and Maintenance Technician in Rotherham, John maintained and calibrated equipment, and updated databases to MCERTS standards.

2020 – Envirocare: Joining our Bradford office, John’s expertise enriched our team’s capabilities in equipment maintenance and calibration. His words reflect on his time at Envirocare:

“In 2020 I joined Envirocare as a workshop technician and was welcomed into a young progressive team. As the company grew, we were given the tools needed to meet the business plan. John Healey has built a good team, and I have greatly enjoyed working at Bradford and being part of a growing successful company.”

We are beyond proud to have had someone with such a rich and impactful career as John on the team, the skills he has passed on will continue to shape the industry.
