A Brief History of Envirocare
The company was formed by Tony Smith, Keith Edmondson and Alden Phillips, three highly qualified individuals who had previously worked together as independent consultants in the local textile industry delivering stack monitoring and occupational hygiene sampling.
Envirocare provided extensive expert support for a 2 year pan European, EU funded project to control wool process dust in the woollen industry. At the time being the largest European project carried out within the woollen industry over this course of time by a UK Environmental consultancy.
Due to continued growth of staff and equipment, Envirocare purchased a building in the centre of Bradford and turned it into both contemporary offices and a laboratory. Since then the workforce and facilities have expanded to one of the largest in the West Yorkshire area.
Envirocare again project managed a 2 year pan European, EU funded project. This time focusing on the environmental and health and safety impacts of lacquers used within UV printing. The results of this project are still readily available via our Envirocare website.
The Environment Agency wanted to raise the quality of stack sampling in England and Wales and introduced the monitoring competence scheme MCERTS. Envirocare were one of the first consultancies in the UK to gain MCERTS accreditation for the monitoring of pollutants to air.
As part of our development, Envirocare evolved its brand to reflect its position in the environmental and occupational hygiene monitoring field. This would prove to be the first of two large company wide branding exercises focused on providing expert advice and monitoring for our clients.
Envirocare attained UKAS accreditation for occupational hygiene services including dust and noise in the workplace. Envirocare are still one of the few consultancies in the country that hold these accreditations. Continued expansion saw a Consortium Framework agreement was signed with another MCERTS accredited company.
Envirocare received the highly commended award at The Telegraph & Argus Bradford Means Business Awards in the Environment Friendly Business of the Year section. Envirocare’s submission was based around monitoring data and consultancy advice provided to its customers to help them in minimising their environmental impact.
Ray Pullen (Technical and Quality Manager) becomes Chairman of the Source Testing Association, the technical trade association that looks after the stack emissions monitoring industry. Enabling Envirocare to provide expert advise and measurement of pollutants from stacks.
Envirocare undergoes a total brand review following a period of expansion for the business and to celebrate 20 years in service. The implementation of a new visual identity, tagline and online presence will support our future plans, evolution and growth.
