What is Health and Safety Awareness Training?

Employers have a responsibility to make sure employees are provided with suitable and sufficient information, instruction and training when it comes to Health and Safety. This is a requirement of most modern-day Health and Safety legislation, including the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations and Control of Noise at work regulations. Envirocare’s tailored training and learning resources are a great way to confidently meet this requirement.

Envirocare can tailor and design training courses and material to suit the needs and requirements of your organisation. Assessment resources can be provided to help you to check that training objectives have been met.

Regulation 12 of COSHH requires that training should include details of the substances hazardous to health (hazards), results from any exposure monitoring that has taken place (risks) and the appropriate precautions and actions to be taken in order to safeguard workers (controls).

Similarly, Regulation 10 of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations require information, instruction, and training to be given when workplace noise is at or above a lower exposure action value e.g. a daily or weekly personal noise exposure of 80 dB(A). This should include the risks of exposure to noise, noise exposure limit values and exposure action values, and measures taken in order to comply with the requirements of regulations. It is recommended that all such training is delivered at least every 2 years.

What to Expect

An experienced Occupational Hygiene Consultant will work with you to collect information on hazardous substances, exposure risks and measures in place to control exposure within your workplace. This will include results from any exposure monitoring that has been undertaken by Envirocare or third parties. This information will be used to generate specifically tailored training resources. The training will be delivered by an experienced trainer either in a training room setting or on-line. The training can be designed to be interactive, with questions and/or discussions throughout. There is also the option of an end of training assessment to check and document trainee competence.
